Prompt 11: Use What You Know

Goal:  Break into a new niche.

Strategy:  Use your current expertise to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Prompt:  What are you known for that you can use to promote a new kind of work?

What you are doing now has some connection to what you’ve done successfully in the past.  Use that to help make the leap.  Whether it’s from nonfiction to fiction, or fiction to nonfiction, or genre to genre, you can use what made you successful in one to squeeze your foot in the door of the other.

There is a gap of credibility between genres, styles, and forms.  However, what you’ve done successfully in the past can give you the extra boost you need to leap across the gap if you leverage your expertise in a way that makes sense for your audiences, both old and new.
