Prompt 13: Have Fun With Yourself

Goal:  Build rapport with your audience.

Strategy:  Reveal yourself to your audience.

Prompt:  Be wacky.  Be fun.  Be yourself.

This is especially important for people who tend to take themselves and their work seriously.  I admit I am one of those people.

Recently, I had a conversation with a writing partner who was bringing me in on a project with another co-author.  The new co-author and I had interacted online before, but we’d never really sat down and talked.  Admittedly, it was Skyping, but we chatted, like over coffee, except we couldn’t see each other.  It didn’t matter.

We clicked.  And she brought out a side of me that my writing partner rarely saw.  It’s a side of me a lot of people rarely see, because I am a serious person with serious passions who takes herself and her work seriously.  It was good to let loose and have fun, while keeping the passion and the serious alive, too.

Try it.

Yes! One of the many things I love about blogging is that my online friends allow me to indulge in my funny side. I’m not a great wit, and I’m not a comedian, but I can be playful, and I love feeling safe enough to let that silly side of me show. 😀
